His experience and connection to the Simonsberg area lead him to Quoin Rock and he’s built a team around him that is open-minded, inquisitive, innovative, and are go-getters.
Schalks says that for him: ”I like to make wines that show the terroir, shows our soils, showing the cultivar in its best form in the location it is. Wine is an art form for me, it boils down to having your feet in the vineyards and feeling it year-round from the very beginning.”
